Mrs. Sandlin explaining the TEA Accountability Rating system to the crowd. |
because Tom Maynard, of the State Board of Education, was the guest speaker.
Mr. Maynard spoke of the importance of rural schools and communities. Mr. Maynard and Mrs. Sandlin announced that TEA Commissioner Mike Morath, after careful review, was granting Buckholts ISD a short abatement period to get student grades up to State requirements, so that the community can show our school deserves to remain open.
Commissioner Morath's abatement for BISD is NOT a free pass and NOT a reprieve. The students must work hard and CONTINUE the hard work to make passing grades. BISD has the remainder of this year and the next school year to make and MAINTAIN passing marks, OR it's all over for the school district.
Buckholts kids are smart. But, they must be ambitious also. Administrators, teachers and staff are busting their butts to help our kids. Now, with the end of this school year upon us, parents and community, it's your turn !
