Badger Varsity Football vs Calvert 10-28-16
The Buckholts varsity football team traveled to Calvert last Friday night in a face-off with the Trojans. The mercy rule was invoked right after half time, with the Trojans leading the Badgers.
It wasn't all bad news. The Badgers didn't go scoreless.
And the cheerleaders had matching pink shoe laces for Breat Cancer Awareness.
No trips to the hospital and everyone got to go home early, with some heading to Corpus Christi for the regional cross country meet.

It also appeared some lucky elementary class was to end the school day with some Halloween treats.

Jr Hi's Last Home Football Game for 2016
BISD Junior High School hosted the Calvert boys for the last Jr High home field game of the 2016 season. It seemed serene.

Buckholts Schools Fall Festival 2016
There were frolics on the football field Wednesday (Oct. 26) as the public attended the annual BISD Fall Festival.
There were spiders;
There were spiders;
spooks;
a pirate;
and a GIANT Uncle Sam.
There was even a man with a frog on his shoulder and a bottle of vegetable oil under his arm. Hmm.
Some were shocked by what they saw.

Drug Dog finds NO Illicit Drugs on Campus! Fall Festival This Evening!
Yep! There was a drug dog checking the Buckholts' school campuses yesterday (10/25/16) and NO there were NO drugs found on the campus. Another case of rumors-gone-array.
Because of a rumor perpetuated by a small handful of students, the Superintendent and the Principal enlitsted Rogers Police Department to bring a drug dog to BISD to check for illegal drugs.
THANKS to Rogers' Police Department. Their drug dog officer was on his day off, but came to BISD as a favor. (Thanks to Police Chief Newsom and Sheriff Green for their influence and SPECIAL thanks to Rogers Police!)
REPEAT, no drugs indicated on BISD campuses.
Buckholts ISD, which includes ALL of our community, has a full plate satisfying TEA to keep the Buckholts schools open. The school board, administration and teachers are working overtime plus, to make the local school system work and KEEP JOBS in Buckholts.
As a result of an ignorant rumor, BISD officials had to take time from education to make sure all was on the up-and-up. Again, another disruption based on students rumors. AGAIN, your school administration reacted properly and in proportion.
If you, and your children, don't care enough to stop this nonsense, or if you parents don't care enough to support your community, your local school system and your own children, LEAVE Buckholts! Transfer your kids to Cameron or Temple or where-ever. Help them enroll in gangs. Deprive them of a future. Make them an inept ward of our Federal government unable to function without receiving Federal freebies.
Hands-on, I estimate 98% of Buckholts School kids want to do the right thing. They want to learn. They WANT to represent their school and community. Buckholts, HELP THEM!
The other 2%, do everything in your personal power to dissuade them and encourage them to move to Washington, D.O. (District of Oz, no more Columbia).
This rant is opinion based on years of experience.
Orange and Black, do not lack. Otherwise, move on!
POSITIVE NOTE!!!!
Fall Festival at BISD starting at 5:00 PM this evening. Come out, come on and support your community and school this evening! Let's have some fun !!!!!

I'll be there, camera in tow!

Epic Grid Iron Action in Prairie Lea 10-21-16
Buckholts started with their running game, but after falling behind two touchdowns, Coach Rinderknecht switched the Badgers to their aerial assault. Buckholts began scoring and the two teams traded touchdowns at a brisk pace. The Badgers couldn't erase their early deficit, with Prairie Lea posting the win 102 - 81 ! (No typo, that was the final score.)
Had it not been for injuries side-lining some of our guys, the outcome might have been in Buckholts' favor. Yes, one of our players had to go to the ER. I can't name him here, but he is okay with a mild concussion.
Near the end of the game, I was on the home side of the field. Several Prairie Lea spectators spoke to me, complementing the Badgers:
"D*@#, y'all's boys came to play!"
"This ain't the washout it was supposed to be."
"We had no idea Buckholts could play like that."

With a pass from Luke Trevino, Eric Salomon evades Indian defenders and runs long, setting up a touch down. |

Jason Duran fights off a Prairie Lea defender and pulls in another Luke Trevino pass, in the end zone for the Badgers 3rd TD of the game |
I don't jeer the officials and don't feel I'm in any position to critique them. Field officials are human and entitled as such. They are poorly paid. But, look at the next two photos and tell me Eric stepped out of bounds before the 15 yard stick. The official in the photos called him outside the line BEFORE the last lollipop. That was a crucial 4th down play for the Badgers and a bad call that stunned the coaches and the players. No excuses, no hard feelings, just an observation . . .

Badgers Win !
The Buckholts' Badgers varsity football team defeated the Round Rock Concordia Cardinals 34-25, at home, under the lights, Friday, 10-14-16.
A three touchdown onslaught by the Cardinals in the 4th quarter wasn't enough, as the Badgers added two more TD's of their own.

Junior High Football Action
The Buckholts Junior High Badgers hosted the Westphalia Bluejays on the turf Thursday, 10/13/16.
Before the game, Debbie Pina displayed the quilt being raffled by Amazing Grace Thrift Shop on November 6th. (2 raffle tickets for $5). I'm no expert, but this quilt look like exquisite art.

Meanwhile Coach Cook contemplated the start of the game, and
why Wayne Brady was officiating.
If the Junior Badgers hadn't spotted Westphalia 33 points in the first quarter, it might have been a much tighter game.
